 The City Government of Maasin led by City Mayor Nacional V. Mercado has once again won the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award for this year 2023 which is an impressive commitment of upholding the practice of transparency & accountability for 5 consecutive years!

The SGLG Award, the highest recognition from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), acknowledges Maasin City's outstanding performance across ten governance areas where Maasin City has consistently demonstrated excellence in its commitment to effective and responsible governance, namely:
1. Financial Administration and Sustainability;
2. Disaster Preparedness;
3. Social Protection and Sensitivity;
4. Health Compliance and Responsiveness;
5. Sustainable Education;
6. Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness;
7. Safety, Peace and Order;
8. Environmental Management;
9. Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and
10. Youth Development

As the City Mayor, I would like to extend my gratitude and congratulations to the City Government of Maasin,
especially to legislative department, headed by Vice Mayor Maloney Samaco,
along with the City Councilors, and city employees for their dedication and invaluable contributions
in order for us to be held as one of the passers of the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 𝐃𝐈𝐋𝐆’𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐒𝐆𝐋𝐆) 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝.

The City of Maasin is an SGLG Awardee for 4 consecutive years.
The local government unit passed the assessment criteria set by the DILG which covered:
1) financial administration or financial stability; 2) disaster preparedness;
3) social protection and sensitivity program; 4) health compliance and responsiveness;
5) programs for sustainable education; 6) business-friendliness and competitiveness;
7) safety, peace and order; 8)environmental management; 9) tourism, heritage development, culture and arts;
and 10) youth development.
We are able to attain another achievement that clearly depicts how transparent we are in all our transactions.
This serve as a measure to gauge good performance in the delivery of basic services to the people.
